The site has a local ridge that operates in North Westerly wind directions.
The RAFGSA Chilterns Gliding Centre collocates the RAF Gliding and Soaring Association
(RAFGSA) and the Joint Service Gliding Centre with the
RAFGSA Depot.
The centre provides a year round 7 day per week operation for all 3 services.
A large number of courses are run between March and October.
These courses cover all aspects of Gliding from Ab-initio to cross country soaring and competition flying.
On weekends and public holidays the RAFGSA Centre operates as a club.
The Depot element of the Centre stores services and disposes of surplus assets.
