Sisteron 2010
This year's RAFGSA Sisteron expedition (consisting of Dave Chappell, Richie Arnall, Luke Hornsey, Andy Hyslop, Dave Fiddler, Tim Davies, Geoff Forster and Ed Wright) set off from RAF Halton in the early hours of Saturday 16 Apr, overnighting in Beaune before arriving early afternoon of Sunday 17 Apr.
First flight on Monday morning was Andy in a local Duo Discus for his flight test for the French licence (brevet), so after a 20 minute flight he was able to fly P1.
The first days flying then consisted of Dave C & Andy in 16 (Janus CT), Luke & Geoff in 26 (Duo Discus XT) and Ed & Dave F in JAC (Duo Discus (with the 'X' winglets));
Day 2 saw Dave C & Dave F in JAC, Luke & Tim in 26 and Ed & Richie in 16;
On Day 3 Phil Sturley joined the Exped, arriving in the early afternoon and much earlier than expected due to some ash (as opposed to the ASH he was towing) problems affecting North-West Europe; this resulted in Dave C & Richie in 16, Geoff & Andy in 26, Tim & Dave F in JAC and Phil in LIVS (his ASH 26E) for an hour & three-quarters, followed by Luke in LIVS for 3 hours.
Day 4 had Ed & Phil in JAC, Tim & Richie in 26, Geoff & Luke in 16 and Andy in LIVS; unfortunately, 16 had to have a relight due to the Sisteron tug not having enough power to lift it up to Petit Trainon, and dumping Geoff & Luke on Camel Rocks!
