Air Cdre Cynthia Fowler
Air Cdre Cynthia Fowler is rightly recognised as the founder of not only RAF Ladies golf but also ladies golf across the three Services. Following a few successful years on the tennis circuit, Cynthia transferred her playing allegiance to golf. In doing so, she raised the profile of golf amongst the then WRAF, and was the principal instigator of the Ladies Inter-Services Championship in its current format (ie off scratch). An accomplished player, she was an excellent mentor for those new to golf and especially matchplay, and was an outstanding ambassador to golf in general. Cynthia retired from the RAF in 2000.
