The RAF Ladies’ Golf Squad Invites You To … Come and Play Golf!

The RAF Ladies’ golf squad is keen to recruit more new and existing players to play golf with them. The current squad spans all ranks and handicaps. In fact, not all those involved have a handicap but are currently working towards getting one by taking advantage of the RAF-run novice coaching days or by playing locally with established players who can show them the ropes.

Our golfing year comprises 7 matches against clubs all over the country, a Spring Meet, 3 coaching sessions, the Individual Championships and some charity events. The main event of the year is the Inter-Services which takes place in September. This is the one we all want to win! Throughout the golfing year, we are very lucky to play on some superb courses at very little cost. The good news is that many of our events coincide with the men’s golfing calendar so we get together and have some good banter with the guys. Furthermore, for the 2011 season, we are fortunate to be generously sponsored by Vauxhall military car sales.

An RAF Ladies’ Golf Sub-Committee was formed to ensure an inclusive approach and to give squad members the opportunity to have more responsibility in the running of RAF Ladies’ golf. The Sub-Committee, chaired by the Director of Ladies’ Golf, or, in her absence, the Ladies’ Captain, is responsible for the long-term planning of RAF Ladies’ golf as well as the organisation, running and administration of all Ladies’ golfing fixtures and competitions. The Sub-Committee meets at least once a year.

If you are interested in getting involved with a friendly group of people who like golf and socializing, please call me, the Ladies' Captain, Sgt Michelle Burgess, on 07534 892228.
