Most of the equipment you will need will be supplied for you when you arrive at RAF Halton however there is a kit list of things you need to bring with you, such as an iron, in order to be able to complete the training with the least inconvenience. Kit list information can be found using this link. There are also forms that need to be filled in when you arrive, if you want to save time on the day you can print out the forms here. Don’t forget to bring them with you on the day!

Can my parents take me to RAF Halton?
Yes, or you can bring grandparents or a partner if it is more appropriate. Whilst you are being processed through your arrival we have a “Parent’s Day” for visiting family members so they can find out more about what you will be doing over the next few weeks. For more information on Parent’s Day please click here.

How can I stay in touch with friends and family when I am on the course?
You are permitted to use your mobile phone in the evenings when not in uniform. Email and internet facilities are also located within MGs. For more information on MGs please click here.

Is it really like in the movies where the Sergeants shout all the time?
No, as much as films are entertaining they are not always realistic. Also, whilst some films are true stories they may be historical and therefore not relevant to today’s RAF. The chain of command above you as a recruit has a job to ensure that only the best people get selected to come to RTS and from there that the cadets have all the skills they need in order to graduate and become effective personnel within the RAF. You will only be in trouble if you have done something wrong; if you work hard, respect the experience of those teaching you and put in your best efforts for the duration of the course you will do well.
