Graduation Day
Over the last few weeks the recruits have worked tirelessly to prove to their directing staff that they deserve to be on the parade square on the final day of the course. The directing staffs have worked tirelessly to ensure that every recruit is given the best training and support. What about the families at home? If it weren’t for the support that the families of the recruits show towards their loved ones whilst they go through the course, many would find it much harder indeed. Knowing that a friendly voice is just a phone call away can make life much more comfortable, especially in the first weeks when homesickness may start to set in. So, 62 days after the attestation into the Royal Air Force, families, friends, staff and recruits can all be proud to say they took part.
Health & Safety
On the day there are many visitors to the station. The following points are intended to help ensure that the events run smoothly:
We have an obligation under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and the Occupiers Liability Act of 1957 and 1984 to ensure, in so far as it is reasonably practicable to do so, that visitors come to no harm while on the Station. As visitors, you also have a responsibility, since any action you take on the Station may affect the safety of other visitors and those who work here, as well as yourself.
Pay attention to all the signs you encounter. These include the position of Fire Exits, Emergency Telephones, First Aid Equipment and other signs of a specialist nature which indicate the presence of particular hazards such as noxious substances, poisons, extreme noise etc.
Disabled facilities are available here at the Recruit Training Squadron. Should you have any difficulties or concerns, then please contact a member of staff immediately. In addition, baby-changing facilities are also available upon request.
Keep to the roadside when walking on the site. Please do not walk on the slabs that cover the heating ducts as they present a trip hazard.
Above all, keep your eyes and ears open for any danger and be conscious of the need for constant safety.
If you are using your own vehicle during your visit, please remember that the speed limit on this station is 20mph.
When arriving at the camp families and friends should use the exit marked RTS graduation visitors.
You will then be directed to a car park and given further information from there. Please ensure you read the graduation invite you will be sent in the post in order to avoid as much confusion as possible.
Dispersal
Following graduation, recruits will clear their bed space, pack all their kit and move onto their next location. Depending on their trade and when their individual training (Phase II) courses are scheduled to begin, those locations will vary; some recruits will commence their Phase II training immediately, while others will “hold” on Airman’s Development Flight at RAF Halton until their Phase II training course start date matures.
