Why are we here?
RAF Halton was establised in the area from the first days of the Royal Air Force in 1918. Prior to this the land was used with the permission of Alfred de Rothschild by the Army both for flying and training troops. The War Office bought the land in 1919. For more infomation on the history and heritage of RAF Halton please visit the heritage section.
Today RAF Halton is home to servicemen and women from the RAF, Army and Royal Navy together with a variety of contractor and civil service staff. Our main job is to train personnel to the highest standard so that they may contribute to the UK's Defence Strategy both at home and abroad. This includes basic recruit training, management and leadership training and a variety of specialist training types.
