Ladies' Team
RAF Ladies’ by Team Manager Sqn Ldr Carole McCullough.
The RAF tour to Australia seems like a distant memory…! The new season is almost upon us and it’s time to get the diaries out and pencil in this season’s forthcoming fixtures. The disappointment of last season’s Inter-services narrow loss to the Army is behind us and we are looking forward to a successful and determined approach to the season ahead. The Inter-Services title is ours for the taking!
Our coach this season will be Sgt Dain Lewis who will ensure that our basic skills and competitive edge are in place. No doubt Sqn Ldr Lucy Newcombe will also be keeping a close eye on our results…We look forward to capitalising on last year’s trg sessions by continuing to improve as individuals and, more importantly, as a team.
The first major event of the season will be the Indoor Inter-Services in Nov 10. Last year was our best result for some years and we will be aiming to give the Army another testing game this year, the Indoor Title is definitely up for grabs!
All details of the RAF Ladies’ squad will be posted on the website so please check online regularly. If there are any details you would like to see added to the site, or ideas for improvements, please pass them to myself or the webmaster, Sgt Jo Richards.
If you are looking to get involved in RAF hockey for the first time, please do not hesitate to contact me on the numbers below. The standard of individuals across the squad varies greatly but everyone has something to offer throughout the season. Many players have developed over a couple of seasons to become solid members of the squad, more experienced players find themselves in the running for a team place pretty quickly. Competition for places in the Inter-services quad is high and we are aiming to keep it that way – new players are always welcome!
