Matt Williams
Flight Lieutenant Matt Williams, 31 from Exmouth in Devon joined the RAF as a Physical Education Officer in 2008 after spending the last 10(?) years as a PE teacher in London, Kent, and more interestingly, New Zealand. Matt competed in judo at British Schools and British Universities level and has won 6 National Championship medals. In September 2009, Matt gained a bronze medal at the British Masters Competition. Unfortunately, Matt dislocated his left elbow during a training session the night before the 2009 RAF Championships and is currently in plaster from his hand to his shoulder and therefore, at present, his ambition is to compete again! Matt is responsible for planning the RAF Judo Association’s 2010 tour to New Zealand and is using the contacts he made whilst teaching there to best effect! Matt is the Physical Education Officer at RAF Cottesmore.
