Branch and Trade Training:
Branch and Trade Sponsors have a responsibility for ensuring that there is appropriate civilian recognition for the training they sponsor. To assist personnel in identifying the accreditation available in their trade/branch, a matrix of accreditation activities is under development. It will be available to view through this area in due course. Other details of branch and trade accreditation will be added as they develop, further to the ones outlined below.
Personnel (Support) Branch
Foundation Degree in Human Resource Management
Now available to TG17 SAC-FS personnel, a Foundation Degree (FD) in Human Resource Management is being offered by Staffordshire University. For a full description please download the flyer . For military intranet users, further information is also available via the RAF A1 Spec Spt intranet website
Masters Degree in Strategic Human Resource Management
Branch and trade personnel in the Pers (Spt) specialism are able to access the recently launched Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) MA Degree. This is an excellent opportunity to gain a degree relevant to the work that the branch and trade do as professional HR personnel, and is fully transferable to the civilian market. Additionally, it offers the opportunity to gain Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Study is tailored to FS, WO/JO and Sqn Ldr ranks, with accreditation offered at respective levels.

Personnel (Training) Branch
Masters Degree in Education
Staffordshire University are now able to offer accreditation of Pers (Trg) branch officers towards their MA in Education Programme. APL claims may be made for the first year of study – those with first degrees and graduates of the PTOC may begin study on the second year of the programme. Subject to student numbers, intakes will be annually in September and January. For further information on the MA in Education programme, please download the flyer and application form.
Intelligence Branch/Trade
Personnel within the Intelligence Branch and Trade may now access Higher Education Qualifications through the accreditation of their RAF training and experience. With Staffordshire University, individuals can study towards 3 qualification levels in the area of Intelligence and International Studies up to an MA level qualification. Rank and experience in the branch/trade is recognised, and subject to eligibility exemptions from some modules can be claimed. The qualifications offer a chance for individuals to build on their existing knowledge and receive a recognised academic qualification that complements their area of expertise.

Trade Group 15 (Medic)
TG 15 (RAF Medic) accreditation
Anglia Ruskin University have engaged with the RAF to provide the opportunity for our RAF Medics to gain accreditation towards Degree-level qualifications within the Faculty of Health and Social Care. The qualifications are designed to be accessible by all ranks, and it is possible to claim for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) for completed Generic and Trade training towards higher standing.
Study is based on distance-learning, with full access to the University’s resources, high-quality teaching, and support. Learners may begin with a Foundation Degree and work through to a full BSc (Hons), with the possibility of access to a Master’s level qualification still in development. Engineering Foundation Degree for Engineering Branch/Trades
Both the Open University and Staffordshire University have accredited and range of RAF Engineer training courses and offer pathways to academic Engineering qualifications. The aim of both providers is to allow individuals to claim Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) based on their Service training and experience, and tailor a course pathway to the qualification level and area of their choice within those on offer. A range of Management, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering qualifications are available at Foundation Degree level with opportunities to study to higher levels such as a full BEng degree.
