The Typhoon aircraft of Number 6 Squadron at RAF Leuchars are on standby to defend Scottish skies from any potential airborne threat. The Squadron takes responsibility for providing the northern element of the RAF’s Quick Reaction Alert mission, providing aircraft and crews on high alert to scramble and intercept unidentified aircraft approaching UK airspace. They stand ready 24/7, 365 days a year.
