RAF Leuchars Battle of Britain Airshow 2011
The Battle of Britain Airshow was held at RAF Leuchars in Scotland on 10 September 2011. This years event with the theme of Defending the Skies: Past, Present and Future is a centenary celebration marking 100 years of military aviation in North East Fife. It began in 1911 with the Royal Engineers launching balloons in Tentsmuir Forest and continues today with the Typhoon aircraft of Number 6 Squadron maintaining the Quick Reaction Alert (Interceptor) North mission from RAF Leuchars.
