The Memorial Room will be open to members of the public on a pre-booked basis at 2.00pm on the following Sundays; April 1, May 6, June 10, July 8, August 5, September 9, October 14. For further information and to book a visit, call Passes and Permits at RAF Linton-on-Ouse on 01347 847660.
Because Linton is an active military unit, identification, such as a passport or driving licence will be required upon arrival.
Wing Commander (Retired) Alan Mawby the Curator of the unique collection said: "The memorial room gives a fascinating insight into life here during the Second World War and contains hundreds of exhibits, photographs and first-hand accounts from that period. It is dedicated not just to those who died but also to airmen who returned but were scarred in mind or body. It is still regularly visited by veterans of the squadrons based at Linton-on-Ouse during the War, all of whom are in their mid-eighties at least. But it will also be of interest to people who lived in the area at the time as well as to younger people who would like to find out a little about what was happening on the many RAF bases in Yorkshire over those critical years."
