Childcare

Linton-on-Ouse

The Old Station Nursery, Linton-on-Ouse offers a comprehensive service to parents and children, with extended hours and a breakfast, after-school and holiday club. We aim to provide support to families of local civilian and military children in an integrated environment, with professional staff and continuous pursuit of excellence. We work closely with training providers and local child support services to ensure we are leaders in our field.

We are located on base at RAF Linton-on-Ouse and access is available to all parents, civilian and military, through arrangement with the Guard Room. We will provide you with the necessary administration for this. We are situated in a large converted accommodation block, with plenty of outdoor play areas and safe places to go on walks and outings.

Hours
The nursery is open from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays and one week over Christmas.

Babies
Babies under 2 years have their own large, safe and comfortable room which will include separate areas for mobile and non-mobile babies. Younger babies can explore and develop without too many adventurous older children to negotiate and this gives the older babies the space they need practise their cruising and walking skills further. They have soft play equipment, mirrors, musical instruments and a variety of other toys to help them to play and learn. Milk feeds are provided by the nursery, prepared, stored and reheated in scrupulously clean surroundings. Whenever possible, feeds are given by the baby’s key worker. Once babies progress on to purees they are given freshly prepared purees made by our cook from local organic produce.

Toddlers
Once children are confident on their feet and about 2 years old, they will then progress into the 2-3s Room, where activities become slightly more structured and they have a chance to paint, play in sand and water and role play in their own ‘home corner’. Meal times become increasingly sociable as they sit together at a table with staff, and eat freshly prepared food in a family environment.
Once children are about 3, they move up into the main pre-school room, where they have even more opportunities for learning through play. Children may attend for either the 2.5 hour grant-funded sessions, or for whole mornings, afternoons or days.

Breakfast and After-School Club
During school term time we offer a breakfast and after-school club. Children can be dropped off with us from 7.30am and we will give them breakfast and take them to school in time for registration. We also collect children from school either during the day (Nursery Class) or at the end of the school day, and then offer them a relaxing environment with a range of enjoyable activities and help to complete any homework they may have. Breakfast and afternoon tea are included in the breakfast and after-school club and children are encouraged to join in with preparing this and planning the activities they would like to do.

During school holidays we offer a holiday club for children aged between 4 and 11, with a range of different activities, including sports and outings. Further details of holiday clubs are available on a termly basis.
