Wings

In support of the flying squadrons and the RAF Regiment there are also three other Wings at RAF Lossiemouth: Engineering & Logistics Wing, Base Support Wing and Operations Wing.

Engineering & Logistics Wing is responsible for maintaining all aspects of engineering support and supply at RAF Lossiemouth; this includes the weapons and survival equipment on the aircraft. The Wing is responsible for the maintenance and repair of aircraft not currently flying on squadrons and the support equipment and vehicles around the station.

Operations Wing plans and controls all flying and major exercises on station and manages all activities that have a direct impact on flying operations. This includes intelligence gathering, weather forecasting and communications systems.

Base Support Wing manages all the support functions for the station’s infrastructure and personnel – everything from Health and Safety, the Medical Centre, non-flying training, accommodation, family support and the deployment of Station personnel.
