Help For Heroes At Lossiemouth

Help For Heroes Charity Night

Charity Night Celebrating 70th Anniversary of RAF Lossiemouth

On Saturday 25th April 2009 RAF Lossiemouth, in partnership with Sansum Black Belt Academy, Elgin, will be hosting a Black Tie gala dinner in aid of the service charity Help For Heroes.
The night will include an auction and a Scotland V England Kickboxing tournament and aims to raise funds for, and awareness of, the charity Help for Heroes.

‘Help for Heroes’ was launched in October 2007 in response to the desire of ordinary people to do something practical to help our wounded Servicemen and women. It has helped develop a sense of national pride in our Armed Forces and has raised considerable awareness of the risks these brave men and women face whilst undertaking their duties.

The evening will be a night of old fashioned glamour in the splendid setting of the Officers’ Mess commencing with a champagne reception followed by a 5-course gourmet menu, specially designed by award-winning RAF chefs to showcase the finest in Moray produce. Musical entertainment through out the night will be provided by several local bands including the Pipes and Drums of 2622 (Highland) Squadron RAuxAF and the Moray Swing Band.

Through Lee Sansum, the Scottish President of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) and owner of the Sansum Black Belt Academy (SBBA), Elgin, the event has secured the skills of 8 international and european titled Kickboxing Champions. These include Lee Matthews, the current Super Heavy Weight WAKO Pro European Champion and Yasmin Anderson, a local female fighter, who has recently won the Light Weight WAKO European and British Champion titles. This event will also be a proud moment for all associated with the academy as two Elgin and Forres students, who began their kickboxing careers under the SBBA Child Development Programme, are now able to return to Moray and proudly compete as Adult World Champions with a home crowd behind them.

A montage created by the RAF Lossiemouth Photographic Section with backing song "Heroes Grass is Green" by D-n-K will be shown on the night. It can be viewed here
