The RAF Shawbury Model Flying Club is a civilian run club affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and has a membership limit of 35.  Military personnel who are members of RAF Model Aircraft Association (RAFMAA) and hold appropriate insurance through RAFMAA or BMFA have automatic associate membership of the Club.  Members are authorized to fly on the airfield from the taxiways adjacent to Runway 23 Threshold as shown on the location map.  An Airfield Driving Permit is required to cross the runway to the flying areas. Flying is only permitted when the airfield is closed for full-size flying operation and full details of flying times and regulations can be found on the Flying Times and Rules and Regulations pages.

We welcome all standards of pilots in any discipline and newcomers are particularly welcome. Free flight duration models and powered models without a throttle or motor control are not permitted.

There is a charge of £43.00 per year for military personel which covers RAFMAA and BMFA membership and provides club affiliation and compulsory 3rd party insurance.  This charge will also provide access to the RAFMAA Equipment Scheme, which gives attractive discounts to modelling goods, normally at trade prices. Civilian fees are set at the AGM and details can be obtained from the Secretary.
