Kerosene over Wittering

Kerosene over Wittering 28-29 Apr 12

RAF Wittering are generously hosting the RAF Model Aircraft Association' Kerosene over Wittering this weekend. Supported by the UK's Jet Modellers Association, this event will see models ranging from the most basic of sport jets to very large and complex scale jets of types from Vampires to Eurofighter Typhoons featuring retractable undercarraige and damped oleo struts, sequencing gear doors, wheel brakes, jettisonable wing tanks, stores release and many other features.  Powered by the same fuel as the full size aircraft, these models sport FADEC controlled turbine engines that produce between 5 and 50lbs of static thrust.  Using such turbines, the World speed record for a radio control jet was set in 2010 in the Domincan Republic at 337 mph. Many of the jets at this event will travel in excess of 200 mph!

The event is not open to the general public, but is open to all Service Members, Familes, Dependents and friends.

Flying will take place at Delta North from approximately 0900 to 1700 each day so if you'd like to see the leading edge of modelling technology and the precision that these aircraft are both built and flown to then please feel free to join us at Delta North via the route shown on the link to right of this page (i.e. Northern perimeter track via the Waddingtons).
