OIC Guidance

Guidance for OICs

Flt Lt Wes Szmaglik is RAFMAA’s own site advisor and is here to help you establish your own RAFMAA associated model flying club. Here are a few of the things he can help you out with:

Provide RAFMAA specific guidelines to compliment BMFA’s to ensure that RAFMAA flying is conducted in a safe manner at MOD sites.

  • Provide guidance and templates to OICs to assist them in forming new sites.
  • Liaise with bodies such as the Defence Infrastructure Organisation to seek a fair and common approach to all RAFMAA clubs.
  • Represent, or invite the chairman or president to represent, the RAFMAA at stn meetings where appropriate.
  • Gather and amalgamate emerging issues from clubs concerning site access and bring them to the attention of the EC.
  • Liaise routinely with the BMFA Site Advisor to determine common issues and ensure that BMFA and RAFMAA guidelines are complimentary.

Please feel free to contact him to discuss any issues you may be having as they are likely the same at many other locations.

Note: Here are some examples of Risk Assessments for Clubs, Family Days and Champs.
