www Resources
How to make the most of RAFMAA's www resources
We use a combination of Facebook, web pages and forums to publicise information and discuss topics of interest.
Pinning it all together is this website which is hosted on www.raf.mod.uk but can be accessed or more easily remembered by www.rafmaa.co.uk.
Information
This website:
1. Provides generic RAFMAA information that is of interest to all members and clubs.
2. Provides club specific web pages that are of interest only to club members.
Both areas can be edited by anyone that wishes to via a username and password that can be requested from RAFMAA's webmaster, Will Waters at webmaster@rafmaa.co.uk. The website can be edited at home or within DII.
The principle aims of the website are to:
1. Provide information and incentive for potential RAFMAA members to join.
2. Provide information for existing members on events and activities within RAFMAA.
3. Provide access electronically to benefits such as the equipment scheme to members.
Open Discussion
The website is augmented via links to discussion forums at RC Groups. These discussions include Club Questions and Answers and event specific threads such as The Annual Fly In. Members are encouraged to subscribe to such forums as when the following year's event starts to spool they will once again start getting reminders.
Due to the ability to subscribe to threads, consideration is also being given to having important club notices distributed in this manner.
Forums are visible to the public and it is hoped that by having such discussions within RC Groups more interest and members may be forthcoming.
Closed Discussion
For discreet discussions then the RAFMAA Facebook closed group should be used. This is visible only to RAFMAA members.
Committee discussion is undertaken within the RAFMAA Committee Facebook closed group. This is only visible to RAFMAA Committee members.
RAFMAA Documentation and files
Information that is not publishable on the website is stored in a central Dropbox folder that is replicated on all Committee Members' PCs if they choose. In this manner all committee members have access to the latest information as updates are uploaded to every user automatically. It also prevents information being lost when committee members leave their positions.
