RAF Marham Mission Statement
"Our Mission is to provide and support Offensive Airpower"

Welcome to Royal Air Force Marham
The Marham Wing is one of the largest and busiest in the RAF, operating 4 Squadrons of Tornado GR4 aircraft in the attack and reconnaissance roles. In addition, the Station is home to a number of other key RAF units such as the Tornado Forward Support Wing, Depth Support Wing, Base Support Wing, No 3 (RAF) Force Protection Wing, the Tactical Imagery Intelligence Wing, the Tornado Maintenance School, No 93 Expeditionary Armament Squadron, the Tornado Engineering Development and Investigation Team and 2620 Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment.

Of course, none of these would function without the vital support teams on the Station that sustain these specialist units. Whilst it is usually the aircraft and flying squadrons that make the news, it is every single man and woman of RAF Marham, conducting all manner of operational tasks at home and worldwide, which are our greatest asset, and they deserve all the credit for Marham's many successes over the years.

Group Captain C Basnett ADC MA RAF - Biography
Group Captain Colin Basnett joined the Royal Air Force as an airman in June 1979 and completed tours as an Assistant Air Traffic Controller at RAF Coltishall and in the Headquarters British Forces-Hong Kong before being commissioned in 1984. Following officer and navigator training, he joined the Tornado GR1 Force in 1986. After an extended tour at RAF Laarbruch, Germany, he was selected to attend the Qualified Weapon Instructors Course, following which he remained at RAF Honington as an instructor navigator.

Just prior to his promotion to squadron leader, he was posted to Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, USA, as an exchange officer flying the F111F. Having been awarded the USAF Meritorious Service Medal during his tour, he returned from the USA and once again headed for Germany as the Executive Officer on 31 Squadron based at RAF Brüggen.

After graduating in 1999 from the Joint Service Command and Staff College with a Master of Arts degree in Defence Studies, he was posted to the Ministry of Defence as the Military Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Commitments). Promoted to Wing Commander in 2000, he completed an operational tour as the Detachment Commander at Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, before returning to the Ministry of Defence for further staff tours as Deep Strike Plans 1 and as the Personal Staff Officer to the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff. In July 2003 he assumed command of 14 Squadron based at RAF Lossiemouth, during which time he completed two operational tours of duty in the Gulf. At the end of his command tour he was promoted to Group Captain and returned to the Ministry of Defence as the Deputy Director Defence Resources and Plans. He assumed command of RAF Marham in June 2008.

Married to Annette, they have a son, Cameron, and a daughter, Madeleine. He is a keen, but haphazard, golfer and tries to keep fit by reading running magazines.
