Autoglass Racing Car built from scratch
Corporal Ant Nutter (33) a Propulsion Engineer, serving on II (AC) Squadron at RAF Marham, has built his own Autoglass Racing Car from scratch. Autoglass Racing consists of 10 classes and Ant has chosen to race in Class 7, because the restrictions are not so tight. In his particular Class both the size of the engine and style of car are unlimited. Hence, he has packed two 1100cc Honda Blackbird engines into a converted Fiat Cinquento he bought on Ebay for £27.00!
It has taken Ant over 6 months to build his racing car and he is now looking to race next year. The car is capable of going from nought to sixty in four seconds and has a massive 300 Horse Power to c all on while racing on a quarter of a miles circuit. On completing his labour of love, Ant said “I started building my car during weekends in February this year and when the season starts in April, next year, I am aiming to try and be one of the tope ten drivers in the British Autoglass series”.
Ant who joined the RAF eleven years ago, has served on numbers 1 and II (AC) Squadrons flying Harriers and Tornado GR4s and would have liked to have served on 3 Squadron with the new Typhoon. Ant admits that if he had not been supported by No II (AC) Squadron or his sponsor Francis Searchlights, it would have been an even harder ‘labour of love’ building his Autoglass car for next year’s Competition.
