This year personnel at RAF Marham have been involved in 2 major events, the Families' and Friends Day and two track-days, which between them has raised over £27,000. Part of these funds have been donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund. On receiving a donation of £10,000 Air Marshall Sir Rob Wright, the Controller of the Benevolent Fund, said “We in the RAF Benevolent Fund give out over £20 Million to over 10,000 deserving cases per year. This contribution allows us to operate a ‘cradle-to-grave’ policy by helping fund childcare centres at Main Operating Bases, cadets, service personnel and those who require help in their retirement. Furthermore, it reinforces our connection with the Service, when we receive contributions of these generous amounts. It also ensures we are able to carry on with our activities which is to support the RAF Family”.

RAF Benevolent Fund raise the flag at RAF Marham
On a fact-finding visit to RAF Marham, Air Marshall Sir Robert Wright, the Controller for the RAF Benevolent Fund, took the opportunity to raise the Fund’s new flag at the Station’s Childcare Centre. It was very appropriate as the centre, known as the Rainbow Centre, and the RAF Benevolent Fund have a very close relationship. Funding for the building, furniture, IT and extensions have all been provided by the Fund. The Controller was assisted in hoisting the flag, the first time this ceremony has been undertaken, by Wing Commander Gary Headland, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, who said ‘The RAF Benevolent Fund’s footprint at RAF Marham is significant. We are delighted to work in partnership with the Fund on everything from individual casework to major community projects, such as the Rainbow Centre. As such, we are proud to invite Air Marshall Sir Robert Wright to raise the Benevolent Fund’s flag at Marham.’
