There is a new and exciting venture coming to RAF Marham this autumn. Have you ever wanted to be able to buy fresh locally sourced produce on your doorstep? Well the wait is over. Beginning on 17 October 2008 a new Farmer’s Market will be visiting RAF Marham.

It has taken months of travelling round to find the best stalls selling the freshest produce but we think we are just about there! It all started with a Community Needs Analysis that was conducted several years ago. The local community was asked what extra facilities it would like to see featured at RAF Marham, and amongst the answers was ‘somewhere to buy fresh, local produce’. Community Support Squadron personnel set about about tracking down some stalls and visited local markets, finally teaming up with Mr Derrick Tooke of Dereham. Derrick currently attends markets in the area and was only too happy to be involved in this new venture. He used his local knowledge and contacts to devise a list of stalls wanting to be a part of this new exciting venture.

A small taste of the Farmers’ Market was held at a recent ‘Pride in Marham’ station event. The feedback from the local community was extremely positive. More stalls have been since been added to the market making it even more attractive to the local consumer.

RAF Marham aims to attract villagers from the surrounding community to the Framers’ Market and will be actively promoting the event around all local villages, pubs and surgeries etc.

The launch date for the market was 17 October 2008.

The market will run from 9am – 2pm and be located at the Sandringham Centre, RAF Marham.

The market will continue to be held on every 3rd Friday of the month.
