The Partnership meets at Swaffham Community Centre

Background Information:
The Iceni Partnership is a community organization serving the market town of Swaffham in Norfolk and the surrounding villages. We are an independent, non-political body. Anyone living in the area is welcome to join in and participate in our work. The main aim of the Iceni Partnership is to encourage local people to work together for the benefit of the whole community. Working as a partnership, we are better placed to bid successfully for funds that will improve local services and enhance the quality of life in our area.

Please click on the link above to explore our website and discover the work we have undertaken, and are continuing to do within the community.

Volunteering:
Many local charities and voluntary groups are reliant upon the services of their volunteers. Volunteering is a means by which you can contribute to your local community and often make a real difference to people's lives. Volunteering can also offer you the opportunity to develop new skills, meet people and have fun too! No matter what interests or skills you have there is always an opportunity for you to become involved in the voluntary sector. Please contact us if you are a voluntary organisation or Charity in the Iceni Partnership area and would like to appeal for volunteers through our website (free of charge).

Detailed below are some of the succesful projects launced by the Partnership:
Marham Young Peoples Table Tennis Club:

The club is now halfway through its 2nd term of operating. We had an initial membership of 40 young people but rarely do we get all 40 attending on the same night - this is good in a way because, with only 3 tables in use, we could not cater for all of those at once. Attendance numbers tend to fluctuate between 12 and 25 on any night. The club is supervised, with assistance from a table tennis coach from King's Lynn and 2 lay youth workers (taking it in turns) from Downham Market Methodist Church. Unfortunately we are all men!! We desperately need the help of a female who can help out at the club. During the Autumn & Winter Terms we close the club at 8.30pm and in the summer term we finish at 9.00pm.

Swaffham Skate Park:
Now completed this project was developed and led by young people living in the area. This group – known as the SK8 Mob – started fundraising some years ago to try to raise the funds needed to have a skatepark built on the recreation ground in Swaffham. Supported by successful grant applications made by the Iceni Partnership on their behalf the group now has the facility that they waited so long for. The SK8 Mob still meet and are making plans to continue with their fundraising to contribute to future maintenance and equipment upgrades. Further details from Sally Palmer, 01362 692839 The funders for this project were Swaffham Town Council, Breckland Council, Sport England and WREN.
