Marham Infant School Project to Enhance the Playground
The children of the Marham Infant School were asked how the Playground could be improved. Every day, weather permitting, the children spend 45 minutes in the Playground. The feedback to the School’s Council was that the children wanted a quiet area that they could chat, read a book or draw. Consequently, a project was undertaken to obtain funding and turn a muddy area into a raised garden bed with sensory plants and seating area.
RAF Marham’s Appeals and Charities Committee was approached and £2,000 was made available. On being presented the cheque by the Chairman of the Committee, Wing Commander Gary Headland, Mrs Jan Duffill, the Headteacher said "We know these quieter zones contribute to the children’s well-being, help them feel secure and protected. These spaces encourage friendships, positive interactions and allow the children more choice of activities during their much loved playtime". "We would like to thank RAF Marham for supporting our children’s development by helping the School extend its outdoor activities".
