Sainsburys Spalding Branch donate hampers to RAF Marham personnel operating in Afghanistan
The Duty Manager at Sainsburys Branch in Spalding, Mr Darren Hamilton, was contacted by his sister and asked if there was anyway that some decorations and ‘goods’ could be sent out to her husband, who is serving at RAF Marham, and has been detached to Afghanistan over Christmas. Darren asked the staff of Sainsburys if they would donate funds to purchase decorations, biscuits, sweets and games for the troops in Theatre. The response was overwhelming and four large boxes and a Christmas tree were purchased from the collection. On presenting the hampers to the Suppliers at RAF Marham Darren said, “My brother-in-law told my sister that there were not many Christmas decorations in Afghanistan. So I asked my colleagues if they would be happy to make a collection. From the money raised we were able to send these hampers to our troops in Theatre. We all wish them a Happy Christmas and a safe return.”
