RAF Marham Summer Holiday Review - 2007
What did you do in the Summer Holidays at RAF Marham?
It’s true it didn’t seem much of a summer, but who needs the sun when you are involved in the array of activities that took place at RAF Marham this year.
A variety of craft activities took place including scrap booking, you should see some of the work the youngsters produced, very imaginative. Thanks to the support of King’s Lynn Sports Development Unit we had a fantastic sports programme including rugby, tennis, basketball, fencing and badminton. Keep a look out for after school sports activities including tennis, and basketball, and after Christmas we are looking to be the venue for a new fencing club. Power Kiting was great fun too, and we are looking forward to the next stage when we can go down to the beach to have a go in the water.
We ventured out a few times during the summer too, once to Castle Acre Priory where we played hide and seek and lots of other old fashioned games in the barn. We also had a brilliant day out at the Oasis Centre in Hunstanton where we went for a swim in the morning, had lunch then had a few spills on the new Eco ice rink next door to pool.
The experts tell us that play, particularly outdoors is vital to a child’s all-round health and well-being, so with thanks to King’s Lynn Family Learning Centre play was enjoyed by lots of children who turned up on Friday mornings for a variety of outdoor games as well as taking part in activities such as clay modelling, painting, cooking, making kites and corn dollies.
Every Friday afternoon a small group of youngsters got together with drama coach Marie to set up a drama club, if you are interested in drama or any of the other activities that are mentioned please contact Rita Broomfield (CDO) on 7884/7918 or mobile 0789 990 8372.
Would just like to mention a big thank you to staff at RAF Marham Gym for all their help and support and also to RAF Marham MT Section.
