Youth Activities at RAF Marham

RAF MARHAM YOUTH CLUB REPORT
RAF Marham Youth Club is a fantastic place for children ages 5 to 13 to go to enjoy a Friday night of fun filled activities. Over the past couples of months the children have enjoyed; circus skills, painting, colouring, making models, designing hammas beads, making fridge magnets, designing cards for Mothers Day and Fathers Day, playing rounders, pool, table tennis, table top football, and dancing in the disco. A competition was held to design a poster for the Youth Club and there were many colourful and creative entries, but the winning entries are shown below and were designed by Shona Layton-Matthews aged 8 and Emily Driver aged 13. Both winners received a framed copy of their poster and a £5 WH Smiths voucher.

RAF MARHAM YOUTH CLUB - VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

The RAF Marham Youth Club incorporates the 14+ Tuesday Evening Club and the 2 Youth Club Sessions on a Friday evening and caters for children aged 5 to young adults.

Unfortunately due to a lack of registered helpers we have recently been forced to close the Friday evening sessions on a number of occasions because we have not met our child to adult ratios.

As a volunteer you will be provided with the appropriate training and also be given the opportunity to undertake an NVQ qualification.

If you would like a worthwhile secondary duty, to provide children with a positive role model and interact with dependants and children from the local community please contact:

The 4 principal goals of the RAF's strategy on Youth are:
To support the key themes of Government Youth Policies aimed at maximising potential, social inclusion, leadership and citizenship.
To enhance the image and understanding of the RAF amongst young people and those who influence them.
To raise the awareness of the RAF in the minds of young people.
To enhance the visibility and appeal of the Air Cadet Organization on the unit and work in liaison with the ACLO.

RAF Marham Half-Term Holiday Activity Report 2007
The first of the school holidays for 2007 had 40 young people registering to take part in the 3-day activities held at RAF Marham.
Day one was the latest thing in non-combat martial arts called Capoeira, Nico the instructor gave us lots of information about how Capoeira is used in Latin American countries.

Day two was basketball in the Station Gym, which was very successful and as a result 2 evening additional slots of basketball were arranged for:
Thursday 22nd March and Thursday 29th March 2007 both beginning at 4.30 pm in the Station Gym.

Day three was a brilliant opportunity to write a poem and complete it with some artwork. Look out for the programme to be held during the Easter holidays, some more exciting stuff coming up.

Thank You.
