RAF Marham Youth Club’s Summer Barbecue – July 2007

On Saturday 14th July 2007, RAF Marham Youth Club held their summer barbecue with the ‘It’s A Knock Out’ theme for the children. The ‘It’s A Knock Out’ nearly ended before it began when the organizers were unexpectedly faced with the problem of no power, a necessity for the inflatable ‘It’s A Knock Out’ equipment. The organizers persevered with the facilities to hand and the day went ahead, thanks to all the fantastic support from volunteer helpers and the patience of the 53 children who attended the event.

It was a gloriously hot fun filled day, with the following activities: human table football, space hopper races, obstacle races, gladiator duels, pick a ball up with boxing gloves and the eliminator game. After working up an appetite the children and parents were ready for the barbecue. After refreshments and food, there was time to squeeze in an energetic bounce on the bouncy castle before the end of the day.

This rounded off a very enjoyable year of Youth Club activities which has seen the children taking part in; competitions, circus skills, painting, colouring, making models, designing hammas beads, making fridge magnets, designing cards for Mothers Day and Fathers Day, playing rounders, pool, table tennis, table top football, dancing in the disco and much more.

Without volunteer helpers the Youth Club would not be able to run, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteer helpers who have supported the Youth Club throughout the year. Also, if anyone has a few spare hours on a Friday evening please come along to join our team of volunteers when the Youth Club re-opens after the holidays on Friday 7th September 2007 with a new programme filled with enjoyable activities
