RAF MARHAM HISTORY ROOM PRESENTATION
5 February 2007

(Senior Aircraftman) SAC 'Charlie' Breen, a Safety Equipment Fitter, (from RAF Marham in Norfolk) was given an original Victor K Mark 2 Servicing School Notes by a fellow airman who recently retired from the Royal Air Force. On receiving the gift 'Charlie' immediately recognised the historical value of the book and knew Marham's illustrious connection with the Victor aircraft. Consequently, he contacted the Officer-in-Charge of the Station's History Room, Flying Officer 'Frankie' Frankland and arranged for the book to be donated to the Station. On donating the item 'Charlie' said "It would have been a shame for this historical document to be discarded and therefore, I am very happy to donate to the History Room where it will be kept safe".

The History Room has a section dedicated to the Victor when the aircraft operated from RAR Marham. The most prominent historical event, which took place 25 years ago this year, was when 16 Victors strategically refuelled one Vulcan Bomber between the Ascension Islands and the Falkland Islands to bomb Port Stanley Airport during the Falklands War. The code name for the operation was Black Buck. On receiving the donation Flying Officer Frankland stated "Items like this are greatly appreciated, because they are tangible and visitors can peruse them. This will form part of the Victor's collection".
