Girls Venture Corps (GVC)
1454 Unit Girls Venture Corps (GVC) operates at RAF Marham and is open to girls aged 11-20.
The Corps meet at 1900 hrs every Wednesday in the Station Youth Club.
The Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets is a uniformed youth organisation for girls aged 11-20 and has been in existence since 1964. Although not sponsored by the Armed Forces, many GVCAC Units have strong links with their local Royal Air Force Stations as well as ATC Squadrons and ACF Detachments.
Young people today need an organization that provides adequate outlets for their energies, a movement based on adventure and new ideas. The Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets provides all of this and more, through a structured and flexible training programme providing an aviation, adventure and travel-based programme of activity.
Our cadets take part in a range of activites including Aviation both theory and practical. Skills such as rifle-shooting and ski-ing. Sport such as 5-aside Football and Archery. Drill to encourge team-work and discipline. Outdoor/Adventure including camp and survival training. We encourage all aspects of Service to the Community and strive to equip our young women in character, mind and body to be responsible self-disciplined citizens.
Aims & Objectives
The Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets aim to meet the aspirations of young women by providing an aviation, adventure and travel-based programme of activity, regardless of race or creed. Young people need an organisation that provides adequate outlets for their energies. A movement based on adventure and new ideas. Concerned with all leisure activities. And one which offers training in sports and skills. The Girls Venture Corps Air Cadets provides all of this and more, through a structured and flexible training programme in pursuit of the following objectives:
Aviation Training to foster a Developing and Intelligent Interest in all aspects of Aviation and its Supporting Industry
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and schemes of a similar nature
Travel to Promote a greater understanding of People of other Nations, World Affairs and Self Reliance
Encourage all aspects of Service to the Community
Encourage the Spirit of Adventure
