RAF Championships

Annual RAF Martial Art Championships. Fighters identified within the monthly competitive selection sessions are invited to attend the annual RAF Martial Art Championships held in May of each year at RAF Cranwell. Events run at this competition are Point Stop kumite & Karate Kata, Light Continuous sparring and Taekwondo Patterns, Kendo sparring and an open Weapons forms category. New events recently trialled and introduced into this competition are point stop and light continuous sparring under British Kickboxing Council (BKC) rules, an open kata/patterns/forms category and a self defence category.

All of these events are fought at either coloured belt grade or black belt grade, with the exception of the Kendo, Weapons and self-defence categories which are competed at across all ranges of grades. There are no separate weight categories with the fighting elements. Fighters whom compete in any of these events, can be selected for RAF representation at the Inter-Service Martial Art Championships.
