Welcome to RAF Microlight Flying Association
The Royal Air Force Microlight Flying Association (RAFMFA) offers current and ex-service personnel the opportunity to learn and experience Microlight Flying.
Sponsored by the RAF Sports Board the association offers a flexible training regime for flex-wing and 3-axis Microlight aircraft to full National Private Pilots Licence (NPPL) standard. On gaining an NPPL, conversion training is availiable to gain a Group A rating at reduced cost. The cost of training for eligible personnel is very favourable and dependant on circumstance can be offset through the use of enhanced Learning Credits or an RAF Sport Board Grant.
On gaining the NPPL members are eligible to syndicate on association aircraft and participate in sponsored tours, that have included New Zealand, Canada, Poland, France and Germany, to further their flying and personal development. In addition members have gone on to achieve Flying Instructor ratings and competed in national and international competitions.
