Air Movements
Moving aircraft in aircraft, a fast jet or helicopter in a C17 Globemaster III, delivering news from friends and family back home, ensuring vital re-supply of ammunition to troops on the ground arrives before it’s too late, getting the Admin Clerk in place to look after the needs of 1000s of troops based forward in Iraq or Afghanistan – diverse, sometimes unpredictable, definitely challenging – welcome to Air Movements Flight (AMF), Middle East.
But routine movement of personnel and equipment isn’t all they do; the section is also heavily involved in VIP moves, aeromedical transfers and ensuring the rapid return of compassionate cases back to the UK.
And it doesn’t always go to plan; movers are flexible, dynamic, problem solvers with excellent planning skills. They need to have the capacity to ‘think outside the box’ and come up with innovative solutions to the variety of logistic challenges that face them daily.
“Air Movements Flight in the Middle East is comprised of a mixture of RAF personnel and KBR [Kellogg, Brown and Root] civilians. This busy fully integrated team provides all round logistics services, handles a wide range of aircraft and is a key Logistic Hub in support of both Ops TELIC and HERRICK.” Flt Lt Sharon Hall, OC AMF.
