photographer “As the RAF Photographer for 83 Expeditionary Air Group, I am responsible for ‘capturing’ imagery for all Expeditionary Air Wings within the group. Tasking is diverse and includes Ariel Photography, News, Technical Faults, Public Relations, Medical, Design, Board of Inquiry investigations and 24/7 Crash Cover.” Sergeant Gary Morgan, 83 Expeditionary Air Group Photographer.

Flying Officer William Wales  Although based at 83 EAG, the Photographer is an asset that can be tasked by any of the Expeditionary Air Wings based in the Middle East in support of Operations HERRICK and TELIC. Working as a member of a small Media Team, the Photographer is an essential element of any public release or historical record – his pictures paint a thousand words. The RAF Photographer captures the life of the RAF today. In addition, he undertakes the same pre operational training as any member of an RAF deployed unit.

The RAF of yesteryear  “The mainstay of my job here is to show the role of the Royal Air Force in operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. All personnel regardless of trade or rank contribute to operations within the Middle East and for me it is important to show this. At present all of my work is ‘Stills’ photography, however in the future this post will have the ability to transmit video clips to anywhere in the world. Output can be local or nationwide and I have had work published in UK National Newspapers, Magazines, TV Channels and on various websites.” Sergeant Gary Morgan, 83 Expeditionary Air Group Photographer.
