On 11 Jan 2011 Number 12(Bomber) Squadron took over the resident Tornado GR4 Sqn post from its sister RAF Lossiemouth squadron Number 14 Squadron. In terms of activity for 12(B) Sqn’s arrival it has been a relatively quiet week. However, the support that the TorDet has been able to give to UK forces within Helmand Province has increased significantly in comparison to previous weeks. Significant effort has been made to task TorDet to support TFH Callsigns, normally TorDet aircraft are allocated to support any ISAF ground troops. By ‘judicious’ planning then UK Land Forces have been supported more by the RAF which has enhanced the Air/Land Integration effects of joint pre-deployment training.
