Casualty Evacuation

902 EAW Doctor Helps Save Sailor

In an unusual turn of events, 902 EAW’s Senior Medical Officer (SMO) was called upon to help in a dramatic Casualty Evacuation (CasEvac) of a RN sailor. The sailor, who was suffering from appendicitis, was serving aboard a RN vessel on operations within the Persian Gulf. A RN Merlin helicopter from another RN vessel was despatched to pick up the RAF SMO and fly out to sea to undertake the difficult CasEvac mission.
