Joint Helicopter Force (A)

Another busy week for JHF(A) supporting 3 PARA and 5 SCOTS on 3 deliberate ops. Around 150 pax in total were inserted at multiple locations, utilising Chinook & Merlin with Apache platforms providing armed escort.

662 Sqn AAC – AH47 Apache - There were multiple successful engagements by the AH with several positively identified insurgents and high value individuals targeted.

1310 Flt RAF – Chinook Det – 18 Sqn ‘A ‘Flight have arrived in theatre and are in the process of taking over responsibility for the detachment. In addition, the move from KAF is almost complete and the development of the new site at BSN 1 continues to go well. Completion date is forecast for Apr 11.

847 NAS – Lynx Sqn – The detachment has quickly settled into a rhythm, establishing routines and procedures to enable the delivery of capability post the departure of 669 AAC

1419 Flt RAF – Merlin Det – Sterling work by the engineering team has restored the serviceability of the det to 80% for this weeks tasking; including day and night support of deliberate ops with3 PARA. In addition, it has been a busy week for the High Readiness Flight; transferring C-IED teams and detainees, along with 2 MERT missions.

Sea King 7 Det – The main focus for the det over this week has been continued tracking of ‘ratlines’ carrying enemy force logistics.
