Ops Update – Camp Bastion 30 Jan 11
JHF(A) operating from Camp Bastion, has supported a variety of ops across the AO; with multiple engagements on Insurgents. There were no reports of any collateral damage or civilian casualties during these activities. From an RAF perspective the Chinooks of 1310 Flt have conducted a plethora of operations this week including Assault Ops and Resupply. The IRT has also been busy, providing fire support during casualty extraction.
2 FP Wg, 34 Sqn RAF Reg’t
Commandant General RAF Reg’t, Air Cdre Russ la Forte visited Bastion FP Wg from 24-26 Jan as part of his visit to Op HERRICK RAF FP FE’s. During this visit, the CG presented 34 Sqn with the Higginson Trophy in recognition of the Sqn’s outstanding efforts over the year.
This week, alongside Regiment Field Sqn patrols and mine-rollers from the US Marine Corps; 34 Sqn have also conducted joint ops around the airfield, in readiness for the imminent arrival of Strat AT.
FP Wg, Tongan Det
The Tongan detachment of Bastion Force Protection Wing received a visit by the Tongan Chief of Defence Staff. During this time CDS watched the detachment conduct the Hakka and join them in prayers and hymns.
