Sentinels of 902 EAW continue to provide wide area Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) support to ISAF missions across Afghanistan. Dynamic overwatch was again provided to Combat Logistic Patrols, transmitting ‘safe-route’ information. In an important new tasking, Sentinel provided Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging and GMTI information of the remote far north-western area of Afghanistan, demonstrating its ability to provide a vital information feed to Ground Commanders across the width of the country. Whilst this activity serves to further illustrate the versatility of this ISR platform, Sentinel’s speed and stand-off capability also allowed it to hold continual standby tasking status for southern and south western Afghanistan.
