This has been a busy week for the Tornado GR4s of 12(B) Sqn with some lengthy sorties flown to support ISAF and UK forces, including involvement in Op HAMKARI, ISAF’s number one priority operation. Close liaison with UK TFH forces has continued, with ground units commenting positively on the support received from the Tornado’s. In addition, multiple Ground Alert Close Air Support (GCAS) aircraft were scrambled to provide dynamic effects for ground forces. A brief lull in flying activity and a deterioration in weather conditions afforded the opportunity to bring forward scheduled maintenance work; demonstrating the highly adaptable nature of the maintenance and support elements of the Sqn.
