Two Tornado GR4's deployed at 904 EAW were struck by lightning during the recent spell of bad weather. Both aircraft received minor damage and were inspected by ground engineers at Kandahar Air Field (KAF). Engineers of 71 Inspection & Repair (IR) Sqn flew to KAF to undertake rectification work. 71 (IR) Sqn personnel deploy worldwide to conduct complex and highly skilled repairs on aircraft systems when local engineering expertise is not sufficient.
