Details

This year marks a further change in focus and rather than one day of training we have developed into a three day course. Chairman Tim Brown sums it up

" This year we are introducing a very exciting new development in RAF Polo and I very much hope that as many of you as possible will be able to take part. Previously we have run an afternoon training session on the Fri prior to the Cranwell Tournament on the first weekend in May. This year we have arranged to run a 3 day Training Camp at Leadenham Polo Club on Wed, Thur and Fri 28, 29 and 30 Apr leading up to the Cranwell Tournament which will take place at RAF Cranwell on 01 and 02 May.

The Training Camp will be led by Mr Mark Homes, a very experienced HPA Instructor assisted by myself. It will run from 1000 to 1600 each day with lunch provided at the Manor House at Leadenham Polo Club. Contact the treasurer or Flt Lt Dave Black for costs. The training will be designed to encompass all RAF Polo players and we may have space for beginners i.e. those who can ride but have never done a polo course before. Numbers of horses available will mean that only 12 people who need to have horses provided can be accommodated so get in quickly! This training, apart from being enormous fun, will assist me in selecting what I hope will be 3 RAF teams to enter the Cranwell Tournament. The Fri afternoon will finish with a matchette aimed primarily at those who might not be included in the Tournament Teams so that everyone who attends will get to play a mini polo match at some stage!

Accommodation will be arranged in one of the Messes at Cranwell with individuals responsible for transporting themselves the short distance between Cranwell and Leadenham.

I am very much looking forward to this event and hope to see as many of you there as possible. RAF Polo has developed enormously over the last few years and this can only strengthen it further. It will be fun, it will be valuable, it will be exhausting. See you there!"

HPA membership, contact Leadenham Polo Club or the treasurer or sec for info about HPA membership. All members participating in the weekend matches must be paid up HPA members.
