Welcome to the ultimate work/life balance. Join the RAF Reserves.

However challenging your work is, being part of the Reserves will push you further than you ever imagined. Reserves enjoy adventure, expeditions, travel, sport and socialising. It is a lifestyle that is as intense as it is rewarding.

“This is the best use of my spare time in the world, and I am paid to be part of a great team.”

Weekends will never be the same again

The people you meet will quickly become firm friends. You’ll discover the true meaning of camaraderie, where mates really look out for each other. You’ll see what it means to be part of a highly valued team, working and training together to achieve goals that really mean something. You will be making an important contribution to the UK’s military forces.

“The most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my spare time.”

A career stepping stone

People tell us that being part of the Reserves helps them to see things differently, with a strong sense of belonging and a powerful sense of purpose that stays with you. RAF Reservists have a great social life, gain confidence by dealing with tough challenges, and become fitter and stronger and more mentally agile. It’s these qualities that can make a real difference in your civilian place of work.

“Becoming a Reserve was when life started to get really interesting…”

It’s tough but the rewards are worth it

Three personal qualities are vital – enthusiasm, motivation and the ability to be a real team player. As part of the RAF Reserves with a five-year engagement, you can expect to be mobilised on expeditionary operations at least once in your first three years to play a vital role in defence and peacekeeping, anywhere in the world.
