The job
Movers are responsible for the movement of troops, equipment and cargo, ensuring that they are available in the right place at the right time to serve operational needs. You could be working at an airfield, either in the UK or overseas, loading and unloading aircraft, completing related documentation and operating a forklift truck to load freight onto an aircraft. Other duties could include planning aircraft loads using IT systems or calculating aircraft weights and balances. You’ll also have the opportunity to accompany cargo on the aircraft to destinations around the world as part of a team responsible for both the unloading and reloading of aircraft where there is no permanent RAF movement support.
