The job
RAF Regiment Gunners are part of the RAF’s force protection capability. They learn to handle a range of infantry weapons, including rifles, machine guns and mortars, and train alongside the RAF Force Protection Force Headquarters and field squadrons. Trained in generic force protection skills (for example, acting as guards and sentries) and in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) warning and reporting, they are also experts in fieldcraft (the military skills required to be able to survive in the field, move undetected and observe the enemy without being seen).
