1011 - Dev Vs AGC
23 NOV 10
With a jam packed training schedule and several players making their development debut the RAF (D) met at 1300hrs for their 3rd Development Fixture of the season at Aldershot against a well drilled AGC side. At 1900hrs the RAF (D) kicked off in very cold conditions. At the whistle the game exploded into a high impact and full paced first half from both teams. The RAF (D) were immediately under pressure from the fast feet of the AGC but the pre match training paid off with some hard hitting and impressive defensive play. The RAF backs played several quick passages of play, impressively from debutant Laura Blackwell-Moore, Freya Lees and Nat Tilsley. Some slick ball carrying and recycling from No 8-Jo Reddaway, Lock- Beckie Faulds and Prop- Petrina Stone.. 10 minutes in, a break from the AGC girls created the first try of the game. RAF (D) scrummaged well and put the AGC under immense pressure. Injuries were sustained and several changes were made which included promising debutants in the RAF squad. The AGC scored and converted another try. After a few phases of quick play, careless handling errors and tackles made by the AGC resulted in two consecutive penalties given to RAF which were scored. RAF maintained their determination and the tackling was second to none.
Half Time – AGC 14 RAF (D) 6
RAF (D), Laura Blacwell-Moore kicked off the second half in positive style. Confidence built and impressive tackles by both the forwards and backs held the AGC momentarily. After a few forced errors the RAF conceded two more converted tries. With a few changes and substitutions the RAF (D) fought well and fought hard to maintain their defence line. Immense tackles and effective ball handling was not enough to outwit the AGC. That said, with 6 new players in the RAF side, having no rugby experience the RAF played fantastically well.
Final Score AGC 35 RAF(D) 6
