H - 0910 - HMYOI
RAF HAWKS v AYLESBURY YOUNG OFFENDERS INSTITUTE
On Weds 24 Mar the Hawks played their second game in 4 days and made it 2 wins out of 2 with a fantastic 62-5 win.
In a hastily arranged fixture a feast of 'Barbarian' running rugby was on offer from both teams. The Hawks took control of the game from the off against an inexperienced HMYOI and ran in a few early tries before the 'inmates' put pressure on the Hawks. The Hawks had a healthy 49-0 lead at half-time and were determined to keep their try-line unbreached but HMYOI had other ideas and scored a wonderful try when the winger broke trough and really showed some speedy heels to score under the posts. Although a little shocked the Hawks regrouped and scored a few other tries to show their domination.
HMYOI who had an ex-England youth international in their ranks proved to be worthy competitors and were impressed with the level of skill shown by the Hawks. The Hawks players and management enjoyed talking to them after the game about their experiences in the RAF and about the experiences of the inmates. Many thanks to the staff at HMYOI who hosted the Hawks during the fixture and also the Hawks team manager who proved to be a more than effective official referee for the game!
