Dinghy - TIGER TROPHY 2012 – SAC Ed Bolton-King in not so warm Winter Warm-up Event!

As part of the 2012 Winter Warm up handicap series, the Tiger Trophy held at Rutland water, took place on one of the coldest and snowy days the country had seen so far. 156 boats came together from all over to compete in the two day event. Three back to back races were held on the Saturday and one long pursuit race on the Sunday. Using this event as more of a training day to test out new techniques against such a large fleet, RAF College Cranwell's Ed Bolton King, entered his Laser Standard rig and set out onto the water for what would be nearly 4 hours at below -4 degrees with 20 knot gusts.

Ex Canary Gold commences on 19th September 11 on a Nicholson 55, arriving in Lanzarote on 4th December, where she will sail for further legs before returning to Gosport in the Spring. Legs of 2 weeks are available to all serving and reserve personnel. Previous sailing experience is welcome but not required.

The RAFSA Dinghy Championships (Brady Trophy) 2011 will be held on 5 – 7 Oct 11 at Rutland Sailing Club, Rutland Water, LE15 8HJ. The event is open to all RAFSA members, members of the British Army and Royal Navy sailing associations, and all Foreign and Commonwealth forces serving with, or attached to, any RAF establishment.
